Eighty-two and Cruisin

A worthy subject if ever we had one. University of Richmond Chancellor E. Bruce Heilman, 82, set out on October 1 to ride his motorcycle from Richmond, Va., to San Diego. He plans to put up to 250 miles under his tires per day for 19 days. The cross-country trip will retrace a path he hitchhiked as 20-year-old Marine just back from World War II.
“It keeps my heart pumping,” the chancellor said of his motorcycling adventures. “Age does not cut you off from the excitement of life.”
