irrationality: tread lightly

by Becca Rea

i want flowers and wide open fields
and a top-down convertible
driving day with the ocean to my left
lover to my right
the kind of day that makes monday
far-off and out-of-mind

i want a kite with poetry graffitied on it
to let go of its string
and wonder where it will land

i want a daisy tucked behind my ear
perfect coffee
a misty morning where getting up
doesn't hurt

i want woods and bike riding
how the sky looks at twilight

watch old black and white films on a back porch
fall asleep as the heat gradually leaves the day
